BMJ Connections Infectious Diseases is an inclusive, open-access journal dedicated to strengthening and completing the evidence base in infectious diseases.
The journal welcomes scientifically rigorous research spanning viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic diseases across the full spectrum of infectious diseases. It provides a home for studies that inform clinical practice, public health, healthcare delivery or policy, including confirmatory and replication studies, small or specialist studies, real-world evidence and well-conducted studies reporting neutral or negative findings.
BMJ Connections Infectious Diseases is the companion title to BMJ Infectious Diseases, a selective journal publishing novel research, reviews, and opinion pieces. The close relationship between these titles enables seamless transfers from BMJ Infectious Diseases, saving time and effort for authors.

Meet the Editorial Board
Professor Anna Maria Geretti (MD, PhD, FRCPath, DHMSA) is an academic clinician in infectious diseases specialising in viral infections, with expertise in HIV, viral hepatitis, antiviral therapy, drug resistance, and immunisation in people living with HIV. She is Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and Consultant at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Her research spans clinical, laboratory-based and epidemiological studies, including fieldwork in Africa, collaborations with the World Health Organization, and contributions to drug development across antivirals, antibiotics and immunomodulators. She has authored more than 300 publications and contributes to national and international guidelines and policy.
